At Ragnar Jiu Jitsu, we specialize in high-level Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instruction for adults, teens, and kids—focusing on no-gi techniques that are both effective and battle-tested. We are proud to operate inside Freestyle Muay Thai in Lutz, FL. with one of the first pit walls in the Tampa Bay Area!
Our head instructor, Professor James "Ragnar" Doner, is a United States Marine Corps veteran and a dedicated martial artist with over two decades of experience. Professor James earned his black belt under Professor Mike Geery, a 3rd-degree black belt under Professor Cassio Cardosi, who holds a 5th-degree black belt under the legendary Master Fabio Gurgel.

Professor Kurt McCathron is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Professor Tommy Carpenter of Omega Jiu Jitsu and a black belt in Aikido. As a lifelong martial artist and dedicated instructor, Professor Kurt brings precision, patience, and a high level of expertise to every class he teaches.Known for his meticulous attention to detail and deep technical knowledge, he is widely respected as one of the top leg lock specialists in the area.

Coach Ish is a dedicated instructor and active competitor at Ragnar Jiu Jitsu, bringing both intensity and approachability to the mats. A purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Professor James and an orange belt in Judo under Sensei Taalaibek Tynaliev, Coach Ish blends explosive takedowns with precise ground control to give students a well-rounded grappling experience.

Coach Satyne is a blue belt under Professor James and a Judo orange belt, bringing skill, intensity, and leadership to our kids and women’s programs. A driven competitor, she’s a gold medalist at IBJJF Pan Kids and a silver medalist at the Florida State Judo Championships.
Coach Satyne is passionate about helping the next generation of grapplers build confidence, discipline, and sharp technique on and off the mats.
